https://ejournal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/pensa/article/view/53502
<p>This study aims to determine the motivation level of students when TGT type cooperative learning is applied by using Quizizz digital games media. This study used a one group posttest only design. The data collection technique consists of a questionnaire method and an observation method to measure the level of student motivation and is supported by the interview method. The results of this study indicate that from the results of questionnaires and observations obtained a very high level of student learning motivation. However, the interview results show that this learning is more suitable if used as innovative learning in learning assessment. The conclusion of this research is that the TGT type of learning has an effect in fostering student learning motivation and it is recommended that supporting learning is needed before the tournament to support students to gain knowledge about the material to be tournamentized.</p>Chika Vindi PramitaElok Sudibyo

https://ejournal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/pensa/article/view/53635
<p>The purpose of this research is to describe a strategy for instilling an attitude of caring for the environment through learning natural sciences for junior high school students. The type of research used was descriptive, with the targets being the principal, 1 science teacher, and 6 students. Data collection techniques included learning observation, document analysis, and interviews. The results showed that the habituation method, implemented through science learning, facilitated the instillation of an attitude of caring for the environment. The strategies employed by the teacher included: 1) accustoming students to cleaning the classroom before starting learning, 2) encouraging students to solve problems related to the environment in connection with the learning material, 3) familiarizing students with explanations regarding environmental management, and 4) fostering students' engagement in creating works related to the environment. These findings were supported by interview data, which indicated that science teachers applied a strategy of instilling an attitude of caring for the environment by encouraging students to act and think critically about environmental management.</p>Lucy VirarasariErman Erman

https://ejournal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/pensa/article/view/54182
<p>The purpose of this research is to make an evaluation tool for critical thinking skills related to the subject matter of the respiratory system. This study used a research and development approach using the Planning, Production, and Evaluation (PPE) framework. The research process consists of three fundamental stages, namely the planning stage, the production stage, and the evaluation stage. The assessment instrument has gone through a validation process involving three validators. Assessment of the validity of the material consists of five aspects that must be examined, one of which is related to the suitability of the questions with indicators of critical thinking. The material validity assessment shows a validity value of 100% which indicates the ability of the instrument to measure the material in question accurately. The assessment of the construction aspect consists of eight aspects that must be reviewed resulting in a validity value exceeding 75% for each item indicating that the developed instrument meets the validity criteria. The assessment of the language aspect which consists of five aspects that must be studied produces a validity value that exceeds 75% for each item so that it shows the validity of this instrument. This shows that the evaluation tool in the form of an assessment instrument for critical thinking skills that has been developed can be declared valid for evaluating critical thinking skills in the material on the respiratory system.</p>Ananda Ayu KurniawatiWahyu Budi Sabtiawan

2023-07-312023-07-31112127131MIND MAPPING : PERLUKAH DITERAPKAN UNTUK MENCAPAI PEMAHAMAN KONSEP?
https://ejournal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/pensa/article/view/53936
<p>Pre-research activities show low student’s learning outcomes on human respiratory system material. This is due to not achieving concept understanding according to predetermined learning indicators. The solution formulated is to train cognitive learning strategy in the form of mind mapping to help the learning process. The mind mapping strategy can facilitate the achievement of concept understanding indicators at the Bloom’s Taxonomy cognitive level, so it was chosen as a solution to overcome the problem. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of mind mapping strategy in improving students’ concept understanding. The type of research used is pre-experimental with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research subjects involved 32 students from VIII–F class at a SMP in Sidoarjo. The results showed that the mind mapping strategy was effectively used to improve students’ concept understanding as shown by the acquisition of the tstatistics > ttable value, namely 12.440 > 2.036 and the n-gain value of 0.70 with high criteria. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of mind mapping learning strategy can improve students’ concept understanding.</p>Amanda Salsabila IlhamiDyah Astriani
