Abstract

In the process of cutting osilator crystal, wet quartz crystal waste will be produced then it wil be drained in the waste shelter disposal. From the untreated waste, there is an idea that appear to recycle quartz crystal waste as material mix of paving block. The parameter that will be tested are compressive strength, water absorbtion, and worn-out durability.

The purpose of this research is to use quartz crystal waste the property of PT. Great Microtama Indonesia as alternative mix material of pavng block, so as decreasing quatity of  quartz crystal waste deposit.

The research result shows that reduction of the amount of sand by 40 percent from the original composition capable increasing the strength of paving block with the age reaches 28 days with 36,13 Mpa compressive strenght, 3,17 % water absorbtion, and 0,34 % worn-out durability.

Key words : Paving block; quartz crystal waste; compressive strenght; water absorbtion; worn-out durability.
