Abstract

Stiffness of the building frame is a structure consisting of linear elements in the form of beams and columns which are connected at the ends by joints (connecting points) to prevent rotation of the structural elements so that they are able to withstand forces and moments. The building frame elements consist of beams and columns that bind to the base of the column (tie beam). Calculation of the stiffness of the building frame using the SAP 2000 program analysis. In general, the analysis of building frame structure modeling does not take into account the tie beam. Thus, an analysis of the effect of adding tie beams in building stiffness modeling was carried out.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding tie beams to the stiffness of the building frame. The analysis was carried out by modeling a reinforced concrete structure building frame using the SAP 2000 program. There are 4 types of building frame modeling, namely model A without tie beam, model B with the addition of tie beam 30 x 45 cm, model C with tie beam 30 x 55 cm , model D with tie beam 30 x 65 cm. The variation of modeling lies in the dimensions of the tie beam.

The results of the analysis show that the addition of tie beams does not affect the stiffness of the building frame. The addition of tie beams has the effect of leveling the settlement at the joint foundation of the building frame, thereby preventing damage to the building. So, building structure modeling does not need to add tie beams.
