ANALYSIS OF FOUNDATION BEARING CAPACITY IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE AIRLANGGA UNIVERSITY OF SURABAYA DENTAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

The construction project of the Universitas Airlangga Dental and Oral Hospital in Surabaya uses the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) as the soil investigation method. This project will utilize both bored piles and driven piles, making SPT data essential for analyzing their bearing capacity. This study adopts a quantitative approach, employing concrete facts, figures, and statistics as tools for calculation. The Luciano Decourt and Reese & Wright methods are used to determine the bearing capacity of the foundations. A driven pile foundation with a depth of 27 meters and a diameter of 40 cm has a bearing capacity of 331.20 tons. Using the same depth and calculation method, but with a diameter of 50 cm, the pile yields a bearing capacity of 148.27 tons. The analysis of bored pile foundations based on SPT data shows that a pile with a 40 cm diameter has a bearing capacity of 205.48 tons, while a 50 cm diameter pile reaches 213.87 tons. The analysis results indicate that several factors influence the bearing capacity of a foundation, including the size of the foundation, soil type, foundation shape, and the calculation method used.
