Abstract

Humans since ancient times have fulfilled their needs by utilizing the surrounding environment, especially in rural areas raising dairy cattle can be a business opportunity, East Java province is the largest milk producer in Indonesia, Babadan Village, Ngancar District, Kediri Regency is one of the centers for cow's milk production. The problem faced by farmers is the limitation of feed ingredients of 79,8%  that can affect the results of milk production. This study aimed to determine the comparison of the use of feed from pineapple leaves and elephant grass that affect milk productivity on the economy in Babadan Village. The research used is a descriptive type with a quantitative approach that aims to reveral somethings according to the data as it is. Dairy farming, the amount of milk produced and also the condition of the breeder, interview with breeders are carried out to obtain information about the use of pineapple leaves for welfare community seen from the amount of milk production and documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out by descriptive percentage.Ty6trhe results show that 1) Feeding both forage and concentrate can affect the economy of farmers, it can be seen from the percentage of profits of farmers who feed pineapple leaves of IDR 50,325 (83.21%) in a day, farmers who use elephant grass of IDR 10,150 (16.78%) so that the difference in profits between farmers who use pineapple leaves and elephant grass is 66.43% which affects the farmer's economy. 2) Dairy cow's milk production is the main income for dairy farmers in addition to being a farmer to increase income from their main job. where the selling price of cow's milk itself is influenced by the quality of the milk. The average income obtained from raising dairy cows for one month using pineapple leaves is around Rp. 1,509,750 while farmers who use elephant grass are Rp. 304,500.
