Abstract
The densely populated settlement in Simokerto Village, Simokerto District, Surabaya City is a settlement located on the side of the main road about 3 km from the government center of Surabaya City with a population of approximately 21,000 people. The increasing population and accompanied by the development of facilities, facilities and infrastructure will tend to result in settlements becoming congested. A densely populated residential environment with all its problems, both directly and indirectly, will affect the comfort of living for the people living in it. This research aims to 1) analyze the physical and environmental conditions of the community 2) analyze the community's perception of the comfort of living.
This research is a type of survey research with a quantitative descriptive approach. The population used is all heads of families who live in Simokerto Village, namely 180 families. The sampling technique used purposive sampling of 64 families. Data collection techniques include questionnaire observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive with percentages.
The results of the research show that 1) the physical and environmental conditions of the settlements in Simokerto Village are that the distance between buildings is mostly < 1.5 meters, the condition of the buildings is permanent, there is ventilation that functions well, the condition of the roads is paved using paving, all fecal drainage channels use septic tanks, residential conditions do not have green open spaces, electricity lines mostly use 900 watt voltage, clean water distribution uses PDAM and waste management systems are transported by officers to disposal sites. 2) Through 17 comfort indicators, it can be seen that as many as 35 research respondents or the equivalent of 55% are of the opinion that they agree or are somewhat comfortable living in densely populated settlements, Simokerto Village, Simokerto District, Surabaya City, while the other 45% are of the opinion that they disagree or are less comfortable living in densely populated settlements.
