Abstract
This article aims to explain the process of training actors in preparing for the monologue performance "Tolong" by Nano Riantiarno for the National Student Art Week (PEKSIMINAS) 2022. This report uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach based on artistic practice, where the author acts as a performer and researcher who is directly involved in the entire process of training and performance.
The actor training process is carried out through several stages, namely script analysis, body exercises, vocal training, emotional exploration, movement exploration, and blocking. The acting concept applied in this performance is W.S Rendra's acting technique collaborated with a caricatural style, which emphasizes strengthening physical expression, vocal dynamics, and stylish movements to highlight the psychological condition of the character.
The application of the right acting techniques made a significant contribution to the success of the performance, as evidenced by winning First Place at the national level in the monologue category at PEKSIMINAS 2022. Therefore, this study confirms that a systematic process of training actors and the application of proper acting techniques are the main factors in building a complete and meaningful monologue performance.
