Abstract

FREE NOW! is a company engaged in providing mobility services. This research aims to describe the denotative and connotative meanings of the word “Taxi” in FREE NOW! advertisements because language experiences an expansion of meaning. There are 7 types of meaning in the theory described by Lehmann, but this research will use denotative and connotative meaning as the subject of research. Denotative meaning is the meaning with objective meaning and what it is, while connotative meaning is the meaning related to the value of taste. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with documentation study techniques, while the theory used is Lehmann's on denotative meaning, connotative meaning and language function, which is then combined with reference (Referenz).
