Abstract

There are still some obstacles in cutting; the process is long and the results are not precise. To overcome this, a cutting tool with the best method is needed. The authors chose oxy-acetylene as the method. This design aims to find outthe best design, tool manufacturing process and optimal operating methods. The design of the tool begins to determine the design method and determine the work concept. Design methods include: design concepts and specifications for tool components, while work concepts include: determining basic concepts; calculate the torque power and make a dimensional drawing. The results of the design obtained the specifications of the tool including: a tool using a DC Wiper 12V motor with torque = 124.672 kg.mm using a transmission system in the form of a single speed chain and a torpedo gear, equipped with PWM as speed control, a toggle switch for CW / CCW movement, SMPS 12V as a stress reducer, the shaft is a long drat M10, the driving roll is made of 1.5 inch pipe, the frame material is made of hollow iron 25 x 25 x 1.2 mm, and the transpoter material is made of hollow iron 15 x 15 x 1 mm. In testing the tool using a pipe object Ø = 2 "and Ø = 2.5" it can be concluded; the tool can rotate the workpiece optimally and there is no sliding at a constant rotation of 0.6 RPM.
