Abstract

In the process of welding cylindrical objects, especially the exhaust neck using stainless steel, there are still some obstacles; Welding is difficult and time-consuming if done manually. How to overcome this requires a tool in the welding process. This design aims to facilitate the welder in the stainless steel exhaust neck welding process in order to get maximum results and efficient time. The process of designing stainless steel exhaust neck welding tools begins with determining the work concept and design method. Working concepts such as: determining basic concepts, calculating torque, force, and motor power and making designs equipped with dimensions, while design methods such as: having concepts in the design and specifications of engine parts. The results of the design get tool specifications including: the driving motor uses a 12V DC Wiper with a torque of 7.3 Nm using a 1:3 gear transmission system and the bicycle chain is equipped with speed control, the axle uses aluminum Ø 25 mm long 335 mm, frame material from iron plate 200 x 300 x 3.5 mm and support material from hollow iron 30 x 30 mm. In the test using a pipe object 51 mm with a thickness of 1 mm, 1.2 mm, 1.5 mm. It can be concluded that the tool can work well and can rotate constantly at a certain rpm as needed.
