Abstract
This research is motivated by the increasing use of song lyrics as a medium of psychological expression that reflects the emotional state of the creator and human experience in general, especially those related to anxiety and how individuals deal with it. The album Sialnya, Hidup Harus Tetap Jalan by Bernadya Ribka was chosen as the object of study because it contains strong themes of loss, relationships, and inner struggles, making it relevant to be analyzed through a literary psychology perspective. This study aims to analyze the representation of anxiety and self-defense mechanisms in the lyrics of the album Sialnya, Hidup Harus Tetap Jalan by Bernadya Ribka using the literary psychology of Sigmund Freud. This study applies a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical type. The research data are in the form of song lyrics excerpts containing representations of anxiety and self-defense mechanisms. Data sources were obtained from eight songs in the album Sialnya, Hidup Harus Tetap Jalan. Data collection techniques were carried out through listening, recording, and classifying data based on Sigmund Freud's theory of anxiety and self-defense mechanisms. The results of the study indicate that the song lyrics in the album Sialnya, Hidup Harus Tetap Jalan represent various forms of anxiety, such as realistic anxiety, neurotic anxiety, and moral anxiety. Furthermore, defense mechanisms were also discovered in response to anxiety, including denial, repression, projection, rationalization, and sublimation. These findings confirm that song lyrics function not only as artistic expression but also as a representation of complex psychological dynamics and hold significant significance in helping to understand human emotional experiences.
