FRAMING KASUS PEMBUNUHAN DALAM PEMBERITAAN MEDIA RADAR JOMBANG JAWAPOS
Abstract
This study is motivated by the role of mass media in shaping social reality through the process of news framing, particularly in criminal cases that are highly sensitive to the public. This study aims to describe the construction of reality and framing strategies in the coverage of murder cases by Radar Jombang Jawapos media from January to June 2025. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with Robert N. Entman's framing analysis method, which includes problem definition, cause identification, moral assessment, and recommendations for resolution. The research data consists of online news texts collected through documentation and text observation techniques on news articles that meet the research criteria. The results of the study show that Radar Jombang Jawapos's reporting not only conveyed the facts of the event but also constructed social reality through the highlighting of certain aspects, the use of narrative language, and the portrayal of actors in the news. Media framing shapes public understanding of murder cases through certain perspectives influenced by news values and information presentation strategies.
