Abstract
This research is motivated by the character of Queen Kalinyamat in the novel Ratu Kalinyamat: Admiral Yang Disegeni Potret by Setyo Wardoyo, which not only presents historical heroism but also the character's psychological conflict. This research aims to describe the personality structure of the id, ego, and superego as well as the ego defense mechanisms of the main character. This research uses a literary psychology approach with Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory. The research data are in the form of sentences, paragraphs, and dialogue excerpts in the novel that are relevant to the research focus. The research data source is the novel Ratu Kalinyamat: Admiral Yang Disegeni Potret published by PT Gramedia Widiasarana Indonesia. The data collection technique uses reading and note-taking techniques, while the data analysis uses qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the research prove that the character of Queen Kalinyamat has (1) an id personality structure in the form of instinctive drives, emotions, and the desire for revenge. (2) ego is seen in the ability to control drives and make rational decisions as a leader. (3) superego is reflected through moral values, responsibility, and spiritual awareness. In addition, the character also shows the existence of (4) ego defense mechanisms in the form of repression, sublimation, projection, diversion, and regression in dealing with inner conflict and psychological pressure.
Keywords: psychological conflict, character personality, Freud’s psychoanalysis.
