Abstract

The purpose of this research is to expose the main character, Steve Rogers's journey as a hero, in Captain America: The First Avenger. The study uses Joseph Campbell's Monomyth approach. It begins with departure, initiation, and return. The analysis reveals that Steve Rogers begins his Hero's Journey when he wants to join military. He goes through many hardships that affect his character's development. He gets superhuman abilities and a superhuman physicality, leading him to an unknown dangerous world. He meets a woman named Peggy Carter, who assists him in his story. This research concludes that the Monomyth cycle in this sequence finishes amid the Return stage. It implies that this film is a triggering act and the first step in Steve Roger's journey to becoming a hero at the conclusion of his journey.
