PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN LIMBAH BATA RINGAN PADA TANAH LEMPUNG EKSPANSIF DI DAERAH WIYUNG SURABAYA TERHADAP NILAI CALIFORNIA BEARING RATIO (CBR)

Abstract

Tanah lempung ekspansif merupakan tanah yang mempunyai sifat kembang susut tinggi dan sering menimbulkan kerusakan pada bangunan khususnya pada jalan. Tanah di Wiyung Surabaya tergolong kedalam tanah lempung ekspansif. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan upaya perbaikan tanah pada daerah tersebut dilihat dari nilai CBR tanah.

Penelitian ini menggunakan stabilisasi kimia dengan penambahan bata ringan sisa dari proyek pembangunan yang dijadikan serbuk serta mengandung ion positif kalsium, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan nilai CBR agar dapat memenuhi subgrade. Variasi penambahan serbuk bata ringan sebanyak: 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, dan 20%. Metodologi yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini dengan melakukan tes sifat fisik tanah, tes pemadatan proctor standart dan tes california bearing ratio.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan semakin besar penambahan serbuk bata ringan pada tanah lempung ekspansif, nilai CBR semakin meningkat. Tanah yang ditambahkan dengan serbuk bata ringan sebanyak 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% dan 20% memiliki nilai CBR sebesar 2,46, 4,60%, 8,16%, 15,80%, dan 19,84%. Untuk memenuhi subgrade dengan nilai CBR 4% dibutuhkan penambahan serbuk bata ringan sebanyak 3,65%. Sehingga penambahan serbuk bata ringan pada tanah lempung ekspansif di Wiyung Surabaya dapat meningkatkan nilai CBR dan mengurangi kerusakan bangunan jalan di sekitarnya.

ABSTRACT

Expansive clay is a soil that has a high shrinkage characters and cause a lot of damage to the building especially on the road. The soil in Wiyung area of Surabaya is indicated to expansive clay classified. Therefore, it is necessary to make soil improvement efforts in that area seen from the soil values of CBR.

This research uses chemical stabilization with the addition of the rest lightweight brick from development project which is made into powder and contains positive ions of calcium, in order to increase CBR values to fulfill the subgrade. Variations in the addition of lightweight brick powder are: 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The methodology used in this research is to test the physical characters of soil, standard proctor compaction test and california bearing ratio test.

Research result showed that the greater addition of lightweight brick powder on expansive clay, then increases CBR value. Soils added lightweight brick powder of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% had CBR value respectively by 2.46, 4.60%, 8.16%, 15.80%, and 19.84%. To fulfill the subgrade with a CBR value of 4% required a lightweight brick powder increase of 3.65%. Than that utilization of lightweight brick powder additions on expansive clay in Wiyung Surabaya can increase CBR value and reduce the damage that happened in the surrounding road buildings.
