EFFECT OF LIME ADDITION ON THE CBR (CALIFORNIA BEARING RATIO) VALUE OF CLAY SOIL ON THE ROAD SECTION IN BALEN DISTRICT OF BOJONEGORO REGENCY

A road is a transportation infrastructure traffic on the ground surface. One of part in road is a pavement layer. Pavement is a layer placed on top of compacted subgrade soil, and one part of the road pavement is the subgrade, which is the original ground surface. Bojonegoro Regency is an area with expansive clay soil. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of lime mixtures with compositions of 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12% on soil properties, compaction testing, and CBR values. The CBR values for lime additions of 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12% at 0.1” penetration are 13.47%, 18.33%, 21.39%, and 25.83%, respectively, and at 0.2” penetration are 13.15%, 17.59%, 20.19%, and 24.26%, respectively. For use as a subbase layer, the soil must meet the requirement of a minimum unsoaked CBR value of 25%. Therefore, the soil-lime mixture with 12% lime content meets the criteria to be used as a subbase layer.
