INFLUENCE OF SUPERPLASTICIZER AND CEMENT REDUCER ON STRENGTH AND WORKABILITY OF HIGH-STRENGTH CONCRETE

Abstract

One approach to enhancing concrete quality is the incorporation of chemical admixtures into the mix. This study aims to evaluate the compressive strength of high-strenght concrete with varying dosages of Superplasticizer Naphthalene Sulphonated admixture at 0%, 0.3%, 0.5%, 0.8%, and 1.0%, as well as the addition of Cement Reducer as a cement substitute at 0.8%. The concrete mix design was based on the ACI method and SNI 7656:2012, using cylindrical specimens measuring 15 cm × 30 cm. Compressive strength tests were conducted at 7, 14, and 28 days. The results of the 28-day compressive strength test show that the addition of Superplasticizer Naphthalene Sulphonated tends to enhance concrete strength. The highest compressive strength value, 50.1 MPa, was achieved with a 0.5% dosage of Superplasticizer Naphthalene Sulphonated. Other variations of 0%, 0.3%, 0.8%, and 1.0% yielded compressive strengths of 45.1 MPa, 48.4 MPa, 45.0 MPa, and 43.0 MPa, respectively. These findings indicate that the use of Superplasticizer Naphthalene Sulphonated and Cement Reducer can improve concrete performance, with optimal results obtained at a 0.5% dosage of Superplasticizer Naphthalene Sulphonated.
