REPRESENTASI TRANSFORMASI EKOSISTEM LAUT SEBAGAI INSPIRASI PENCIPTAAN KARYA SENI RUPA

Abstract

This art creation research explores the transformation of marine ecosystems as a source of inspiration for the creation of visual artworks. The changing conditions of marine ecosystems, from a sustainable state to degradation caused by human activities and the emergence of hope for ecological recovery, form the basis of the artistic concept. This study aims to represent these transformations through a mixed media installation as a medium for reflection on the importance of marine ecosystem conservation. The research employed a practice-led research approach consisting of the stages of preparation, imagination, development, and realization. The outcome comprises five artworks that combine batik and air dry clay in an installation format. The artworks symbolically and imaginatively represent three phases of marine ecosystem transformation: a sustainable condition, environmental degradation, and ecological recovery. The study demonstrates that the integration of batik and air dry clay effectively communicates the dynamics of marine ecosystems while functioning as a medium of artistic appreciation and public reflection, encouraging greater awareness of the importance of preserving marine ecosystems for environmental sustainability.

Penelitian penciptaan ini mengangkat transformasi ekosistem laut sebagai sumber inspirasi dalam penciptaan karya seni rupa. Perubahan kondisi ekosistem laut, mulai dari keadaan lestari, mengalami kerusakan akibat aktivitas manusia, hingga munculnya harapan akan pemulihan, menjadi dasar pengembangan gagasan visual. Penelitian ini bertujuan merepresentasikan transformasi tersebut melalui karya instalasi mixed media sebagai media refleksi mengenai pentingnya pelestarian ekosistem laut. Metode yang digunakan adalah practice-led research dengan tahapan persiapan, imajinasi, pengembangan, dan perwujudan karya. Hasil penciptaan berupa lima karya seni rupa yang memadukan batik dan air dry clay dalam bentuk instalasi. Karya-karya tersebut merepresentasikan tiga fase transformasi ekosistem laut, yaitu kondisi lestari, kerusakan akibat pencemaran, dan harapan akan pemulihan, melalui pendekatan visual yang simbolis dan imajinatif. Penciptaan ini menunjukkan bahwa perpaduan media batik dan air dry clay mampu menghadirkan representasi visual mengenai dinamika ekosistem laut sekaligus menjadi media apresiasi dan refleksi yang mendorong kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya menjaga kelestarian ekosistem laut demi keberlanjutan kehidupan.
