The IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EXPERIENTAL LEARNING MODEL O LEARNING OUTCOMES REVIEWED FROM KOLB’S LEARNING STYLES IN DISASTER MITIGATION MATERIAL FOR GRADE XI STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 1 SIDOARJO

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the Experiential Learning model on learning outcomes viewed from Kolb learning styles in disaster mitigation material for Grade XI at SMA Negeri 1 Sidoarjo. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample consisted of 35 students from Grade XI-1 selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through the Kolb Learning Style Inventory (KLSI), learning outcome tests in the form of pretest and posttest, and observations of learning implementation. The research instruments were validated by one expert lecturer and one Geography teacher, resulting in an overall validity percentage of 84.24%, categorized as very valid. Learning was implemented through four stages of Experiential Learning, namely Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation, all of which were implemented in the very good category. The N-Gain analysis showed that 18 students (51.43%) were in the medium category, 16 students (45.71%) were in the high category, and 1 student (2.86%) was in the low category. Based on Kolb learning styles, all groups demonstrated increased learning outcomes, with Assimilator increasing from 78 to 100, Diverger from 80 to 98, Converger from 88 to 100, and Accommodator from 80 to 96. These findings indicate an increase in learning outcomes following the implementation of Experiential Learning across all Kolb learning style groups, with varying levels of improvement.
