Abstract
Autism children had disorder in speech ability development especially in scrutinizing skill. Autism children tended to show difficulty in focusing attention during learning so that they less understood the material which the teacher conveyed. Therefore, it required an exact treatment and suitable with the disorder which the autism children had. In this case, it required effective and efficient learning method to enhance scrutinizing skill of autism children. In this research question-answer method with video media was chosen as the effort to enhance scrutinizing skill of autism children. This research purpose was to know whether there was enhancement of scrutinizing skill through the application of question-answer method with video media to autism children in competence development school of special need Yudhistira Sidoarjo.
This research used Single Subject Research (SSR) kind with A-B basic design. The subject used was 2 autism children in competence development school of special need Yudhistira Sidoarjo. The data collection technique in this research was participant observation. The data collected from the observation result was analyzed by simple descriptive statistic i.e. using visual analysis component inside condition and among condition.
This research was done for 23 sessions for subject 1 and 20 sessions for subject 2. From the research result it was obtained data range of baseline phase 6-10 with stability tendency 57,14% which meant variable for subject 1 while for subject 2 it was obtained data range of baseline phase 6-9 with stability tendency 66,67% which meant variable. The research with subject 1 was obtained data range of intervention phase 10-15 with stability tendency 87,5% which meant stable while the subject 2 was obtained data range of intervention phase 9-15 with stability tendency 85,71% which meant stable. The overlap data percentage indicated 6,25% for subject 1 and 7,14 for subject 2, this indicated that intervention influenced toward target behavior. In this way, it could be concluded there was enhancement of scrutinizing skill of autism children in competence development school of special need Yudhistira Sidoarjo through the application of question-answer method with video media.
