Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to measure the effect of Educaplay-based interactive media on students’ motivation and learning outcomes in Social Studies (IPS) for eighth-grade students at SMP Sepuluh Nopember Sidoarjo. The background of this research stems from the lack of student motivation and low learning outcomes due to the continued use of conventional, one-way teaching methods with minimal interactivity. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design of the posttest control group type. The research sample consisted of two classes: an experimental group that received instruction using Educaplay-based interactive media and a control group that was taught using conventional PowerPoint-based quiz learning. The research instruments included a student motivation questionnaire and a multiple-choice learning outcomes test developed based on theoretical indicators. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that the use of Educaplay-based interactive media had a significant effect on increasing both student motivation and learning outcomes. Furthermore, students who learned using Educaplay demonstrated higher increases in motivation compared to those in the control group. These findings indicate that the integration of interactive technology-based learning media can create a more engaging learning environment, enhance student participation, and support the achievement of learning competencies in Social Studies. This research provides a theoretical contribution to the development of multimedia-based instructional strategies and practical implications for teachers in designing innovative learning aligned with 21st-century student characteristics.
