Language is very important for communication. The language structure used in a society is strongly
influenced by the culture of the society itself so that they tend to apply a habit that has become a culture
when communicating. Japan is one of them, where people often respond with words like????when the
other person is talking or at the end of the conversation. This culture is called aizuchi. This study uses
Horiguchi's theory to answer the first problem, namely how the variety of aizuchi forms and Saita Izumi's
theory to answer the second problem, namely how aizuchi is used based on the situation. The purpose of this
study is to describe the various forms of aizuchi and the use of aizuchi based on the situation in the manga
entitled Karakai Jouzu no Moto Takagi-san volume 1-2 by Souichirou Yamamoto and Mifumi Inaba by
using a qualitative research approach and descriptive research method. The results found a total of 50 data on
the variety of aizuchi forms and the use of aizuchi based on the situation. The most common form of aizuchi
is aizuchishi with 30 data. While the usage of aizuchi based on the situation is mostly used for the expression
atarashii jouhou wo ukeireru baai (when acquiring new information) with 25 data.
