Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research aims to determine the use, form and function of Bikago in the comic
Twisted Wonderland: Episode of Heartslabyul and the comic Black Butler (???) Volume 19
by Yana Toboso (???). This research uses a qualitative descriptive method by collecting and
finding research data by listening to and noting the words Bikago in the comic Twisted
Wonderland: Episode of Heartslabyul and the comic Black Butler (???). Then to analyze the
Bikago type using Takahashi's theory (2016). To analyze speech situations using sociolinguistic
theory, supported by the theory of embellishment by Inoue (2017) and the theory by Sudjianto and
Dahidi (2014). The results of this research show that bikago is divided into several forms: O (?)
+ wago (51 words), O (?) + kango (24 words), Go (?) + wago (0 words), and Go (?) + kango
(15 words). The form O (?) + wago is the most common. Bikago is used to beautify or decorate
language, such as in expressions such as (??), (??), and (??????) with a total of 39
words, and based on the speaker's function of 52 words. The use of bikago is influenced by the
speaker's social identity, such as gender, age, and social status, as well as social relationships in
Japanese society.
