HUBUNGAN STRATEGI BELAJAR MAHASISWA DENGAN PEROLEHAN SKOR JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST (JLPT) TINGKAT N3
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to identify the most commonly adopted learning strategies among students
in the Japanese Language Education undergraduate program at Surabaya State University and to clarify the
relationship between these learning strategies and the scores obtained on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test
(JLPT) N3 level. This study was conducted with the background that the JLPT N3 certificate is important for
students not only as an indicator of Japanese language proficiency but also in determining their career paths after
graduation. A quantitative method and correlation approach were used in this study, and a survey was conducted
with 26 students. Data were collected from questionnaires filled out by students who passed the JLPT N3. The
results of the study revealed that memory strategies were the most adopted by the majority of students (35%, 9
students). Additionally, a significant correlation was found between the learning strategies adopted by students
and the passing scores on the JLPT N3 exam. In conclusion, while learning strategies play an important role in
determining students' JLPT N3 scores, they are not the sole determining factor. JLPT N3 candidates need to
consider other factors that influence their test results and continuously develop and practice effective learning
strategies to achieve optimal results.
