Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study aims to describe the type, function, and correlation of style of comparison with imagery in Yoasobi's
Hajimete no EP Album. The method used is qualitative-descriptive non-interactive with the technique of
listening-note and literature study. The instruments used are recording devices in the form of online music
streaming applications or platforms and stationery. Miles and Huberman data analysis technique was used which
consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that there are 6 types of
metaphors, 4 personifications, 2 similes, and 1 allegory. The types of imagery found are 17 visual images, 7
images of suffering, 6 auditive images, 3 tacit images, 2 images of happiness, 2 images of material settings, and 2
kinetic images. There are 5 functions of style of comparison, 5 functions of imagery, and 5 correlations found.
Thus, from the three problem formulations above, there is a correlation between the types and functions of style
of comparison and imagery in the form of data intersection of simile, personification with visual imagery and
narrative that both function to emphasise feelings, facilitate understanding, and aesthetics.
