KAJIAN SOSIOLINGUISTIK: ANALISIS WAKAMONO KOTOBA DALAM ANIME 'MY DRESS UP DARLING'
Abstract
This study explores the speech acts of wakamono kotoba (Japanese youth slang) in the anime My Dress-Up
Darling. Its main objectives are to identify the forms and characteristics of wakamono kotoba used by the characters
and to analyze the social contexts that influence their use. The anime was chosen for its authentic reflection of
Japanese youth communication in casual, expressive settings. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with
passive participant observation, the study collects and classifies data based on linguistic and sociolinguistic aspects,
linking them to the social context of interaction. The analysis applies Ervin Tripp’s theory of code choice, which
emphasizes the role of social situations in verbal interaction. The findings are expected to enrich the understanding of
the social functions of slang in Japanese youth culture and contribute to contemporary sociolinguistic studies.
