KEIGO DAN HUBUNGAN HIRARKI SOSIAL: ANALISIS HONORIFIK DALAM NOVEL OVERLORD KARYA KUGANE MARUYAMA (丸山くがね)

Abstract

ABSTRACT

Keigo is form of honorific language used to denote hierarchical distinction. It is categorized into five types based on the addressee, the relationship or connection between individuals, and the influence of differences in status, position, age, and even experience of person. These categories are sonkeigo, kenjougo, teichougo, teineigo, bikago. Each type of keigo has specific boundaries that distinguish one from another. This study aims to examine the use of these five types of keigo in the novel Overlord by Kugane Maruyama and how keigo reflects the social hierarchical relationship of each character who uses it. To bridge the first research objective with the second, the “The Five Clocks” theory by Martin Joos was employed as a framework to distinguish hierarchical relationship. The data consisted of written dialogues containing keigo. Result show 37 data points consisting of lengthy conversations that used keigo, the analysis revealed 176 instances of sonkeigo, 50 of kenjougo, 17 of teichougo, 207 of teineigo, and 35 of bikago. Furthermore, in reflecting keigo on social hierarchical relationships, there were 0 frozen style, 243 formal style, 207 consultative style, 119 casial style, and 0 intimate style.

要旨

敬語は、社会的な階層の違いを示すために用いられる言語形式の一つである。敬語は、話し手と聞き手の関係や個人間のつながり、さらに地位・立場・年齢・経験などの差によって、五つの種類に分類される。すなわち、尊敬語、謙譲語、丁重語、丁寧語、美化語である。これらの敬語にはそれぞれ明確な使い分けが存在する。本研究は、『オーバーロード』におけるこれら五種類の敬語の使用を分析し、さらに敬語が各登場人物の社会的階層関係をどのように反映しているかを明らかにすることを目的とする。第一の研究目的と第二の研究目的を結びつけるために、Martin Joosの「Five Clocks」理論を枠組みとして用い、階層的関係の区別を行った。データは、敬語を含む書き言葉の対話文から収集した。分析対象は、敬語が使用された比較的長い会話を含む37のデータである。その結果、尊敬語が176例、謙譲語が50例、丁重語が17例、丁寧語が207例、美化語が35例確認された。さらに、敬語と社会的階層関係の対応を分析した結果、フローズン・スタイルは0例、フォーマル・スタイルは243例、コンサルタティブ・スタイルは207例、カジュアル・スタイルは119例、インティメイト・スタイルは0例であった。
