BENTUK DAN MAKNA GAIRAIGO OTSUKARE SUMMER DAN TANDEM KARYA HALCALI

Abstract

This study discusses the forms and meanings of gairaigo found in the song lyrics of Otsukare Summer and Tandem by the Japanese music group HALCALI. The background of this research is the extensive use of gairaigo in modern Japanese songs, where these loanwords not only retain their original meanings from the source language but also experience semantic shifts according to their contextual usage in song lyrics. This study aims to analyze the formation processes of gairaigo and to explain their lexical meanings, contextual meanings, and semantic shifts found in both songs. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with semantic and semiotic approaches. The data sources are the lyrics of Otsukare Summer and Tandem from the album Bacon. Data were collected through observation and note-taking techniques, while data analysis was conducted using Setiawan’s (2014) classification of gairaigo and Charles Sanders Peirce’s triangle of meaning theory, consisting of representamen, object, and interpretant. This study indicates that the use of gairaigo in song lyrics functions not only as borrowed vocabulary but also as an artistic expression reflecting the dynamics of modern Japanese language.
