Abstract

COVID-19 in Indonesia was detected on March 2, 2020, the virus is spreading rapidly because the transmission of this virus is very easy to enter the human body through the respiratory system. On April 9, 2020, the pandemic has spread to 34 provinces with DKI Jakarta, West Java and Central Java as the most and the biggest exposed provinces to the coronavirus in Indonesia. With this very rapid spread, the government finally conducted a lockdown system policy or PSBB (Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar). In that case all activities or activities outside the home began to be limited very strictly, with large-scale social restrictions with a very long time so that the time for people to do activities even exercising outside the home began to be limited to athletes, sports players, and students majoring in sports. Low physical activity is a risk factor for various concomitant diseases such as increased body mass index, serious heart conditions and even decreased muscle function making us more susceptible to COVID-19 disease. Therefore, this study aims to assess and compare physical activity levels and body mass index before and during the COVID-19 pandemic through questionnaires. The population of this study is students of IKOR Class 2017 State University of Surabaya. Sampling using Random Sampling Technique. The sample from this study amounted to 35 students. This type of research is non-experimental with a descriptive quantitative approach. Based on the results of data analysis from SPSS calculations conducted, there is no significant difference between physical activity before the pandemic and during the pandemic. This is evidenced by wilcoxon test results that state a significant value of 0.073 which means a sig value. > 0.05. and for BMI before and during the pandemic there is a significant difference due to the significant value of 0.020 which means the sig value. < 0.05.
