Abstract

The elderly are a population that has three characteristics of health risks, including biological risks including age-related risks, social and scope risks, and behavioral or lifestyle risks. The purpose of this data analysis is to prove the correlation between physical activity and the incidence of insomnia in the elderly. This research design uses descriptive quantitative survey method. The sample in this study was the elderly with a total of 25. The sampling method used was purposive sampling. Data analysis used the Kolmogorov Smirnov test with p value < 0.05. The research instrument used the International Physical Activity Quistionairre (IPAQ) and the KJBPS-Insomnia Rating Scale. Physical activity carried out by the elderly is classified as light with a frequency of 14 (56%), while 11 (44%) are included in the moderate category. The incidence rate of insomnia in respondents was mostly in the mild category with a frequency of 14 (56%). Information can be obtained that among 25 respondents who did light physical activity, 9 people (64.3%) had mild insomnia. And from 13 respondents who had moderate physical activity, there were 5 people (45.5%) who had mild insomnia. The results of statistical tests with chi-square analysis obtained p value = 0.330 (p > 0.05), meaning that there is no significant relationship between physical activity and the incidence of insomnia in the elderly.
