Abstract

Anxiety is an emotional condition of a person who feels depressed with the presence or absence of a clear cause to affect the physical condition. This study was conducted with the aim of studying further about anxiety in swimming athletes. This research is included in the type of qualitative research with the method used is the literature review. The journal articles used were 10 with details of 5 national journals and 5 international journals. The results of this study indicate that the anxiety experienced by swimming athletes often occurs both before and during the match. The monotonous training process can make athletes feel bored and even less comfortable so that it can have an impact on the performance and achievements of the athletes. Anxiety in a swimming athlete before a match, can also affect concentration. Anxiety experienced by an athlete can be influenced one of them by self-efficacy. Anxiety tends to be more experienced by female swimmers than men. This is because women are easier to get influence from both inside and outside. Anxiety in an athlete is important to always pay attention to. Not only by the athlete himself but also by the coach. Management of the athlete's psychological and mental condition can be done by providing supportive programs. The training programs given to swimming athletes before the match are not only able to reduce anxiety, but also provide benefits such as improving the abilities and skills of an athlete.
