Abstract

Abstract

A person's VO2 Max ability can be increased by several types of exercise or good physical activity that are carried out regularly and periodically. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between physical activity and VO2 Max of UNESA Scouts in outdoor activities. The method used is a cross sectional method using data collection techniques in the form of participant observation, a 2.4 km run test, and distributing questionnaires (physical activity recall) to: 13 respondents, instructors or UNESA scout coaches. Analysis of the data using the Sapiro-Wilk normality test, the correlation test using the Pearson Correlation, the conclusion of this study found a significant correlation between physical activity and VO2 Max of UNESA scout members. As for the factors that affect the VO2 Max ability of UNESA scout members, there is an increase in the VO2 Max ability of UNESA scout members after being given regular treatment or training. However, from the results of the data above, it can be concluded that a person's body mass index does not always affect a person's VO2 Max ability. Because the measurements made are only limited to measuring the ideal body mass index with reference to height and weight. While there is a difference between muscle mass and fat mass in a person's body. Improvement plans to increase VO2 Max ability and maintain body mass index of UNESA scout members are: a. conduct and organize a good and appropriate exercise program on a regular basis, b. maintains the quality of energy intake consumed.

Keywords: VO2 Max, body mass index (BMI), outdoors.
