Abstract

Futsal is a sport that involves fast and precise movements because the field conditions are relatively small so the tempo of the game is high so it requires good agility for athletes. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between body mass index and leg muscle explosive power with agility in futsal athletes in Situbondo Regency. Correlational research will be applied to 18 futsal athletes in Situbondo Regency. Normality test, linearity test, and hypothesis testing were carried out using SPSS 20. The results showed that in Situbondo Regency futsal athletes there was a relationship between BMI and agility (p = 0.005) and in Situbondo Regency futsal athletes there was no relationship between leg muscle explosive power and agility (p = 0.241) and in Situbondo Regency futsal athletes there was a relationship between BMI and leg muscle explosive power with agility (p = 0.002). The conclusion is that BMI is correlated with agility while explosive power is not correlated with agility. Meanwhile, if BMI and leg muscle explosive power are related to agility, the results show that there is a correlation. This study recommends athletes to further improve their physical condition and body composition to be better so as to be able to increase optimal performance.
