Abstract

Handball is a game that requires the same speed, strength, endurance and accuracy as basketball. The basic techniques of each player really support their performance on the field so that each coach is able to create a training program to improve performance. Based on observations made by the researcher and also from the results of the researcher's interviews with several other team coaches who also observed the final round between the women's handball team of SMAN 1 Driyorejo and SMAN 4 Sidoarjo, the 9 meter shot made by the SMAN 1 Driyorejo team was declared weak, estimated from several factors, such as making a wrong shot and weak arm muscle strength. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of push ups for shooting distance of 9 meters in handball athletes. In this research, researchers used quantitative descriptive research with a research method design using Quasy experiment. This research design used "One-Group pretest and posttest design" with a sample of 15 handball athletes from SMAN 1 Driyorejo. The results of the research can be seen that the mean value of the standing shoot test pretest data is 0.59 and the mean value of the standing shoot test posttest data is 0.56. Meanwhile, the standard deviation of the pretest-posttest standing shoot test data is 0.10683 and 0.10623. Based on the average value of the pretest-posttest standing shoot test data, it can be seen that the time needed to throw the ball during the posttest is shorter than during the pretest, which indicates that the female athletes are getting faster at shooting handball.
