Free trade demands that every company must be able to survive and develop by producing quality and competent products so that consumers give full confidence to the company. To increase the profit or profit of the company, the simplest proposal is to increase productivity. One way to increase company productivity is to carry out quality control on the products produced. In Indonesia, the cigarette business is growing very rapidly. The cigarette company that was the object of this study was a large-scale cigarette company that produced 11 kinds of cigarettes. Of the 11 types of cigarettes, type 1 cigarettes were chosen because in the production process there are often many defects. In an effort to improve productivity by controlling the quality of the product, the method used is the six sigma method.The DMAIC cycle is a key process for continous

improvement towards the Six Sigma target. The stages / steps carried out are the define, measure, analize, improve and control stages. Based on these steps, the results were obtained, namely in the production of making type 1 cigarettes, the DPMO value = 82.83 can be known so that the sigma value can be known, which is 3.92 which shows that the capability of the type 1 cigarette production process is on the average American industry. Based on the define stage, there are 10 types of product damage and the most common thing that occurs is sticky type defects, which is 48%. To solve this problem, in the improvement stage, adjustments to the position of the dot stamp glue / reduction if needed and control the cleaning schedule on the dot stamp glue machine are carried out. This action is carried out periodically to reduce the resulting defect product.
