KONFLIK SOSIAL DALAM NOVEL BATU BERKAKI KARYA CHANDRA BIENTANG (PERSPEKTIF KONFLIK RALF DAHRENDORF)
Abstract
The power imbalance between the Munarto family and the residents of Ledok Awu village in Chandra Bientang's novel Batu Berkaki serves as the backdrop for this study. This study aims to describe social conflict from Ralf Dahrendorf's perspective, which involves the two sides of society, power, authority, and the groups involved in the conflict, as depicted in the novel Batu Berkaki. This research uses a literary sociology approach with research data in the form of sentences, paragraph excerpts, and dialogue quotations from the novel that are relevant to the research questions. The source of data for this research is the novel Batu Berkaki by Chandra Bientang. The data collection technique used is reading and note-taking. Then, the data analysis technique uses content analysis. The first finding of the research is the two sides of society in conflict, namely land monopoly, murder, quarrels, and fights. Meanwhile, the consensus side is the Munarto family with the residents of Ledok Awu village and Munarto with Arsenio. Second, power in this novel is shown through the Munarto family as the superordinate party that holds power. Third, the division of authority is evident in Munarto as the landlord, Belot as the village head, and the police as the authority in charge of handling cases. Fourth, the groups involved in the conflict included the residents of Ledok Awu village as a pseudo-group, the Munarto and Belot families as interest groups from the superordinate party, and Mbok Im, Turkiyem, and Ruminem as interest groups from the subordinate party.
