DINAMIKA KEBUTUHAN HUMANISTIK TOKOH AGUNG DALAM NOVEL INGKAR KARYA BOY CANDRA (KAJIAN PSIKOLOGI HUMANISTIK ABRAHAM MASLOW)
Abstract
This study aims to describe Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs as depicted in the character development of Agung and to analyze the role of intercharacter relationships in helping to fulfill these needs in Boy Candra's novel Ingkar. This study uses a humanistic psychological approach with Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, which includes physiological needs, safety, love and belonging, self-esteem, and self-actualization. The method used is descriptive qualitative with hermeneutic analysis techniques, which interpret the meaning behind the characters' actions and interactions based on the narrative context. The results show that the character Agung experiences a gradual process of need fulfillment. Physiological needs and safety are fulfilled through relationships with family and close friends. The need for love and belonging is realized through his emotional relationships with Livka and Alisa. The need for self-esteem arises through social support, appreciation, and personal achievements that foster self-confidence. Self-actualization is achieved when Agung is able to reflect on his past mistakes, take responsibility for his actions, and commit to becoming a better person. Interpersonal relationships, such as the roles of Livka, parents, teachers, and peers, have a significant influence on Agung's psychological development towards the stage of self-actualization. This study concludes that the novel Ingkar not only depicts the conflicts of adolescents in finding their identity, but also represents the process of achieving human needs in stages according to Maslow's theory. This work also reinforces the relevance of humanistic psychology studies in literature as a medium for reflecting on human values
