REPRESENTASI TRAUMA PEREMPUAN PADA TOKOH MANEH MAULU DALAM NOVEL TAK ADA EMBUSAN ANGIN KARYA AVEUS HAR (PERSPEKTIF CATHY CARUTH)
Abstract
Trauma emerges as a psychological respons to an inner wound caused by an event that is threatening or distressing beyond an individual’s capacity to cope. In Indonesia, trauma frequently effects victims of sexual violence and communities living in areas of prologed conflict. Amind conditions marked by violence and socio-political pressure, women constitute a highly vulnerable group to human rights violations, including sexual harassment, torture, and exploitation. In various armed conflicts, women are more often positioned as victims rather than beneficiaries, thereby bearing profound physical and psychological buedens. This study aims to describe the symptoms of trauma that construct the subjectivity of the women and to interpret the process of trauma reconciliation as experienced by the character Maneh Maulu through the lens of Cathy Caruth’s trauma theory. The method employed in this reaserch is descriptive qualitative with a textual approach. The finding of this study reveal; 1) four categories of trauma symptoms experienced by Maneh Maulu, namely six instances of belatedness, seven intences of intrusive repetition, eight instances of numbing, and six instances of dissociation; and 2) five processes of trauma reconciliation undergone by Maneh, including the search for a safe space, the development of secure relationships, the establishment of more structured life, the cultivation of harmonious relationships, and self-acceptance.
