REPRESENTASI UNSUR RELIGI DAN MITOS TIONGKOK DALAM FILM SHANG CHI AND THE LEGEND OF TEN RINGS (ANALISIS SEMIOTIK KULTURAL ROLAND BARTHES)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan representasi budaya dari unsur religi dan mitos etnis Tiongkok, yang terdapat pada film karya Marvel yaitu „ShangChi and The Legend of Ten Rings‟. Dalam penelitian berikut, peneliti menggunakan teori Analisis dari Roland Barthes, yaitu Semiotika Kultural yang merupakan semiotik khusus untuk menelaah sistem tanda yang berlaku dalam suatu kebudayaan tertentu. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Metode penelitian kualitatif digunakan oleh peneliti untuk mendeskripsikan makna pesan semiotika kultural yang terdapat dalam film Shang-Chi Shang-Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings, dengan cara pengumpulan datanya menggunakan metode simak dan catat. Metode simak dan catat dilakukan pengamatan langsung terhadap objek penelitian, dengan cara menonton berulang-ulang dan mengamati dengan teliti dialog-dialog serta adegan-adegan dalam film Shang Chi. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukanya representasi budaya dari unsur religi dan mitos etnis Tiongkok, sepertifestival Cheng Beng, hari kematian, dan hewan mitologi legenda etnis Tiongkok.

Abstract

This study aims to find cultural representations of ethnic Chinese religious and mythical elements, which are found in the Marvel film 'ShangChi and The Legend of Ten Rings'. In the following study, the researcher uses the theory of analysis from Roland Barthes, namely Cultural Semiotics which is a special semiotic to examine the sign system that applies in a particular culture. The researcher used a qualitative descriptive method. The qualitative research method was used by researchers to describe the meaning of cultural semiotic messages contained in the film Shang-Chi Shang- Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings, by collecting data using the listen and note method. The listen and note method is carried out by direct observation of the object of research, by watching repeatedly and observing carefully the dialogues and scenes in the Shang Chi film. The results of this study found cultural representations of ethnic Chinese religious and mythical elements, such as the Cheng Beng festival, the day of the dead, and mythological creatures of Chinese ethnic legends.
