Abstract

During the pandemic period, all access to movement and space for children is limited. This condition affects aspects of child development, including aspects of self-awareness. Of course, in this portrait of the problem, the role of parents is needed in providing the right parenting style. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between democratic parenting of parents and the self-awareness of children aged 5–6 years during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a quantitative method with a correlational approach. This study employs the purposive sampling technique with the selected sample of 30 parents who have children aged 5–6 years in the village of Pelemwatu, Gresik. The data analysis technique in this study used the normality test with Kolmogorov-Smirnov and the linearity test using the Test of Linearity. The results showed that there was a relationship between democratic parenting and the self-awareness of children aged 5–6 years. It is shown through the results of the Pearson correlation r value or r count of 0.409 with an r value range of 0.40–0.599, which means that between democratic parenting variables and self-awareness has a relationship with the moderate category.
