FOLDING PAPER FOLDING ACTIVITIES PATTERNED ON THE FINE MOTOR SKILLS OF GROUP B CHILDREN AT DHARMA WANITA PATIHAN WIDANG TUBAN KINDERGARTEN

Abstract

This study is based on the characteristics of early childhood who cannot think abstract so need help in folding paper once, early childhood has not able to hold both sides of the paper together and press the paper firmly so that the result folding one produces unequal folds. The purpose of this study is to improve children's fine motor skills through patterned paper folding activities using from different sides of the paper. This type of research is a type of class action (action) research research). The subjects of this study were children aged 5-7 years in Dharma Wanita Patihan Widang Kindergarten. Data collection techniques with observation sheets. Data processing techniques use descriptive statistics. Result research on cycle I average children's fine motor ability to fold patterned paper is in a sufficient category and in cycle II the child's fine motor abilities increase being a well-categorized average. There was an increase of 86.9% from the good category, in where in cycle I there are no children who are categorized as good and in cycle II there are 20 people the child is well categorized. This shows that folding by using patterned paper (two different sides) can improve the child's fine motor ability to fold. It should be ensured that the child mastered the activity of folding one well and then the teacher can give the next stage of folding.
