Abstract

Outdoor learning is a learning approach that can be used to reduce student boredom in learning. In addition, outdoor learning provides a real experience for students to learn directly by utilizing the environment as a concrete medium. This study aims to analyze the effect of concrete media-based outdoor learning on the ability to match 5 sizes in children aged 4-5 years. The research method used is a quantitative method of Pre-Experimental Design with the type of One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Collecting data in this study using test and observation techniques. The subjects of this study were 15 children aged 4-5 years at SKB Gudo, Jombang. This research lasted for 5 meetings with 3 times giving outdoor learning treatment based on concrete media, while 2 other meetings were for pre-test and post-test activities. Data from this study were analyzed using non-parametric statistical analysis techniques through the Wilcoxon test. Based on the research results, the calculation between the results of the pre-test and post-test increased from the average pre-test score of 10.6 while the average value of the post-test increased by 17.9. As for the Wilcoxon test results, the Asymp results were obtained. Sig. (2-tailed) 0.001. Where 0.001 <0.05 means that the hypothesis can be accepted. So that it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between outdoor learning based on concrete media on the ability to serialize 5 sizes (large-small, long-short, thick-thin, heavy-light, and high-low) in children aged 4-5 years. In addition, from this study, it was found that outdoor learning based on concrete media can foster children's interest in the learning process.
