Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the influence modifiction of the Large Moveable Alphabet Media on the Word Recognition Ability in 4-5 Year-Old Children. This research method uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of this study consist of 30 children. The data analysis in this research utilizes independent t-tests. The research results show that the obtained Sig. (2-tailed) value is less than α (0.05), specifically the Sig. (2-tailed) value for word recognition using the Large Moveable Alphabet media is 0.001, or sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05, which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This implies that there is an influence of the Large Moveable Alphabet media in improving the word recognition ability of 4-5-year-old children. Based on the problem of children having difficulty distinguishing similar letters such as b, d, p, q, m, w, n, u, it can be seen from the comparison of pretest and posttest scores that after receiving treatment, the children's ability to differentiate similar letters improved, and the level of errors in arranging words with similar initial letters decreased. This is because by using the Large Moveable Alphabet as a learning media, tailored to the steps of its usage, children experienced improvement. The Large Moveable Alphabet can be held and children can directly perceive the shape of the letters, making it easier for them to distinguish between letters. Therefore, the treatment aligns with the learning objectives. Learning using the Large Moveable Alphabet as a media can be used to influence children's ability to recognize words
