Abstract

This study aims to improve the gross motor skills of children aged 3–4 years through the zig-zag hoop jumping game
at the Integrated Early Childhood Education Center (Pos PAUD Terpadu) Cerdas, located in Penjaringan Sari, Surabaya.
The research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles using a descriptive quantitative approach.
The research subjects consisted of 17 children, including 11 boys and 6 girls. Data collection instruments included
observation sheets for gross motor skills, teacher activity, and child activity. In the pre-cycle stage, the children’s gross
motor skills were at 34.29%. The results showed an increase in the average gross motor skills from 54.12% in the first
cycle to 82.22% in the second cycle. Teacher activity increased from 59.52% to 88.10%, while children's activity
increased from 62.50% to 87.50%. These results indicate that the zig-zag hoop jumping game is effective in improving
gross motor skills in early childhood. Supported by enjoyable learning activities and optimal teacher guidance, children
were able to develop muscle strength, balance, coordination, and learning motivation significantly.
