Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Membaca Permulaan melalui Media Kartu Kata Bergambar Pada Anak Usia 5-6 Tahun
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to improve early reading skills through the use of picture word cards at TK Citra Ananda
Surabaya. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research subject of 20 children. The
data analysis techniques applied include observation and photo documentation. The research problem is formulated as
follows: “How can early reading skills be improved through picture word cards at TK Citra Ananda Surabaya?”
This study was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of three meetings. In both Cycle I and Cycle II, the
focus was on children's activities and the improvement of early reading skills through picture word cards. The
percentage method was used to analyze the data. The results of the study indicated an improvement, with children's
activity levels reaching 43,75% in Cycle I, while their reading ability was at 53,3%, which was still below the 76%
mastery level. In Cycle II, the percentage of children who had not yet mastered the activity decreased to 16%, while
their reading ability increased to 84%, surpassing the 76% mastery level. This demonstrates that the use of picture word
cards can enhance early reading skills in children aged 5-6 years at TK Citra Ananda Surabaya.
