Abstract
This study aims to explore the utilization of the 5M activities (Drawing, Coloring, Folding, Cutting, and Pasting) to improve fine motor skills in children aged 5–6 years. The research was conducted at RA Al Firdaus Surabaya using a Classroom Action Research method with a quantitative approach. The subjects consisted of 10 children. Data were collected through direct observation and documentation during learning activities involving the 5M method.
The results showed that the 5M activities effectively enhanced the fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years. In the first cycle, 50% of the children were able to perform the activities of drawing, coloring, folding, cutting, and pasting well. This percentage increased to 80% in the second cycle. In addition to improving fine motor skills, the 5M activities also increased the children’s attention and engagement during the learning process. Based on these findings, the 5M activities are recommended as an effective learning strategy that can be implemented in early childhood education institutions to support the development of fine motor skills.
