Abstract

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to describe the improvement of the ability to recognize number symbols 1-5 through d'buay media. The subjects of the study were 10 children aged 3-4 years. The study was conducted at PPT Harapan Bunda 1, Krembangan District, Surabaya. The study was conducted in December 2024 and January 2025. This action research used the Kemmis and Mc Taggart method, through two cycles consisting of cycle I and cycle II which included the planning, action, observation and reflection stages. Data were obtained by referring to the observation sheet for the ability to recognize number symbols 1-5. The results of this study indicate an increase in the ability to recognize number symbols in children aged 3-4 years as evidenced by the average number symbol recognition score of students. Before the study, the average score was 45%. After cycle I was implemented, there was a change in the average class score for the ability to recognize number symbols 1-5 through d'buay media to 64.44%. In cycle II, a smile card was added as a reward for those who successfully carried out d'buay. This d’buay media is increasingly interesting for children, so that it increases the ability to recognize number symbols on average in the class to 86.66%. In cycle II, it has reached the completeness category so that this study is sufficient with the implementation of two cycles.
