Improving Scientific Literacy Skills trough Eksperimental activities for children aged 4-5 years in PPT PELANGI Surabaya
Abstract
Science Literacy is an important aspect that needs to be improved in early childhood, because science literacy skills will influence the development of early childhood. By improving Science Literacy skills, it will be easier for children to obtain information and access knowledge and use it in daily activities. Scientific Literacy Ability is the ability to learn, think logically and scientifically, through observing scientific processes in the surrounding environment. Observation of the science process in early childhood can be developed into active, varied and enjoyable learning through fact-finding activities such as simple age-appropriate experiments, so that children are able to think critically and logically in solving problems. Bruner argues that discovery learning will automatically improve reasoning in solving problems. . This study aims to improve Science Literacy through simple Experiment activities in children aged 4-5 years. The type of research used classroom action research and the Kemmis Taggart method in its stages, and in implementing the cycle using the Arikunto method which consists of two or more cycles. This study found that with simple experimental activities, early childhood can improve their Science Literacy which includes increasing development in pronouncing concrete objects, thinking scientifically, following activities according to instructions, discussing natural processes and drawing conclusions.
