Abstract
The Importance of Color Recognition in Early Childhood Cognitive Development. This study aims to enhance the ability of 3-4-year-old students at PPT Mentari Lidah Wetan Surabaya to recognize colors. The indicators used in the learning activities include naming, identifying, and categorizing colors through the color cotton bud game. This particular method has not been previously implemented in studies using colored cotton buds. The research subjects consist of 19 students from Class B, aged 3-4 years. The classroom action research method consists of two cycles, each implemented over two days. The study aims to achieve an 80% mastery level by making improvements in each cycle to obtain significant results. The observations indicate a remarkable improvement in color recognition development, with a 68.45% increase from the pre-cycle phase (14.05%) to the second cycle, which reached 82.47%. The percentage distribution of developmental indicators is as follows 3.53% for "not yet developed," 14.05% for "beginning to develop," 45.63% for "developing as expected," and 36.84% for "developing very well, categorized as good. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the color cotton bud game effectively enhances color recognition skills in Class B students aged 3-4 years at PPT Mentari Lidah Wetan Surabaya. Additionally, observations of teacher activities, conducted in several stages, successfully met the research target.
