Abstract

Fine motor skills are an essential aspect of early childhood development, related to the coordination of small movements, particularly involving the fingers and hands. One way to enhance fine motor skills is through cutting activities. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of cutting activities in improving the fine motor skills of children aged 3-4 years. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR), with the subjects being children aged 3-4 years at PPT Pelita Hati. Data was collected through observation and documentation. The results of the study indicate that cutting activities have a positive impact on improving children's fine motor skills. Children who initially struggled to hold scissors and control their hand movements showed significant progress after regular practice. This improvement is reflected in the learning achievement, which increased from 63.8% to 84.96%, showing a 21% rise. Moreover, this activity also enhanced children's concentration, hand-eye coordination, and confidence in performing tasks requiring fine motor skills. The conclusion of this study is that cutting activities can be an effective method to improve fine motor skills in children aged 3-4 years. Therefore, educators are encouraged to provide more varied and enjoyable cutting activities to help children further develop their fine motor skills.
